The Mayflower - in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support

“The Mayflower”

Charity Railtours was informed last week that our locomotive 61306 is not permitted to travel through Woodbridge on the East Suffolk Line. A major blow as this tour has been planned for over two years and has proven understandably popular.

An alternative locomotive in the form of an LMS 4-6-0 Black 5 is available for hauling The Mayflower so Network Rail are now being asked to consider this alteration at such a late stage.

The Mayflower will be the first steam train to traverse the remains of the branch to Aldeburgh since Beeching. On top of this we shall also be the first steam train to reach Ipswich Griffin Wharf, possibly since the 1950s - so, a memorable event rounded off with a run to Harwich Town, birthplace of “Mayflower” and once home of the train-ferry to Holland.

With less than half a dozen seats remaining, if you have not yet booked and would like to join us do please let me know as soon as possible. In order to avoid over-selling, we are now releasing the remaining seats by mail order only, so please download the order form HERE, complete and return with your cheque made payable to “Charity Railtours”.

If you have any queries, please email me or telephone 07518 045077
