The Mayflower - in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support

“The Mayflower”

Engineering blockades are now blocking part of our planned route so the itinerary for this long-awaited train has been amended.

Full details of the itinerary are available HERE, but in brief we shall now begin our trip at Highbury & Islington, before calling at Stratford and then picking up the planned route. We will NOT be able to call at Liverpool Street in the morning, but will will get to see our magnificent steam locomotive simmering “on the blocks” at the terminus in the evening.

The Mayflower will be the first steam train to traverse the remains of the branch to Aldeburgh since Beeching. On top of this we shall also be the first steam train to reach Ipswich Griffin Wharf, possibly since the 1950s - so, a memorable event rounded off with a run to Harwich Town, birthplace of “Mayflower” and once home of the train-ferry to Holland.

With less than half a dozen seats remaining, if you have not yet booked and would like to join us do please let me know as soon as possible. In order to avoid over-selling, we are now releasing the remaining seats by mail order only, so please download the order form HERE, complete and return with your cheque made payable to “Charity Railtours”.

Please accept my apologies for the amended schedule.

If you have any queries, please email me or telephone 07518 045077
